Is there a bigger attic grant for first-time buyers?
Yes. A first-time buyer who bought on or after 1 January 2025 gets a higher attic grant: €1,900 on a semi-detached house instead of €1,500.
SEAI’s rule, in its own words
The home has to be bought on or after 1 January 2025.

The higher attic grant is €2,500 for a detached house, €1,900 for a semi-detached house, €1,800 for a mid-terrace and €1,400 for an apartment.

The same higher figures apply to homeowners on qualifying welfare payments.
